is this a hub and spoke connection or is this a line or a ring or some hybrid. You mentioned they are connected by wireless bridges. What switches and routers do you have at each site? I'm not sure how dhcp would be a better option to keep track of several devices? I guess I think these routers can set static address's as well if it would be better to control this at the router level.Īny thoughts on what I have going here are appreciated =) I don't mind people questioning me as it's just what I've always done maybe not whats best =) I also use as many static address's as I can because it helps me keep track of everything that's on the network. I use Ubiquiti edgerouters So I think they actually have separate unbridged ports to make some of these things easier. If I did this I guess it would be easy to put the whole camera system on a separate VLAN eh? I would like to eventually get my own server for just the cameras and one for just the Voip server. Scw networker pro cameras in other subnet Pc#I would love to separate my VOIP from the rest of the LAN but I don't think I can put that on a separate VLAN since it's PC softphone based so I would have to chose those random PC's to separate? For the past 5 years this setup has been working great tho. With that being said, I obviously know enough to be dangerous =) but I am not as network smart as I need to be for what I've been put in charge of. DHCP is blocked via the bridges between locations. It is nice if I have an internet bandwidth issue via one gateway I can easily switch PC's around to other gateways to keep everything running smooth. I trust everything on the LAN side so don't see why it would be a big issue to have this basically like one big LAN? It's not a public intranet. We have our houses all linked with the business locations, so we can easily share the network via the intranet instead of using VPN or any web route to jump locations as our internet here is terrible slow. This way the cameras could be on 192.168.1.x, still able to communicate with that server, and save me room on 192.168.0.x ? And hopefully not interfere with the VOIP server thats on the same PC. I have about 30 cameras that don't need to interact to the web, they ONLY need to be able to communicate with the PC that runs (Blue Iris) there server.īefore I go to the work of testing this and with my limited knowledge does this scenario seem like it would work okay.Ĭhanging the security server to (ip)192.168.0.x/(subnet)255.255.252.0/(gateway)192.168.0.1 and setting the cameras to 192.168.1.x/255.255.252.0/192.168.0.1 Scw networker pro cameras in other subnet windows 10#I have a windows 10 PC that runs as our camera/security and VOIP server. The 5 routers I just have set at spots 1-5.Įverything seems to play nice for the most part this way but I am running out of spots, so my question. Most everything is setup statically and every location via there router has a small dhcp pool for there wifi connected devices. all linked together via wireless bridges. 5 different locations, 5 routers, 5 separate internet connections.
